1968 Triumph TR250 History, Profile
Originally
purchased new in 1968 in Colorado by an Air Force officer as his personal car.
Sold in 1970 to the Nike Missile Range
maintenance officer who drove the TR250 on weekends for 6 years, then switched to using the car only for rallies and SCCA
racing in Colorado and Oklahoma with his son. Raced from 1976 and into the early 1980s when this Triumph became again
solely a weekend driver and in 1986 was stored away in the garage.
Sold in 2001 to current owner who has restored and
modified the car for weekend driving to meet the need of the modern era. The resto-modifications were completed in early 2004.
The car has a little over 36,000 original miles.
The exterior has been restored/modified to represent the look of the
60s Triumph Works TR Rally Cars, though not painted the teams light blue colors. As the car has some racing modifications,
scrapes and would not be put back to original status it was decided to change the color during the restoration. The car was
sprayed with Signal Red color code matched to the specifications from England and it turned out great, during painting some
of the body trim was removed to provide a clean look. The interior has been restored and upgraded more to represent a roadster
style.
